How to install Mozilla - Intro

This How-To will explain every step of the Mozilla installation process. If Netscape 4 and its plugins are already installed on your system, setting up Mozilla will be even easier. In this case, Mozilla can convert your existing Netscape 4 profile including all the settings, bookmarks, and Email. In addition, Mozilla will be able to use many Netscape 4 plug-ins.

Please note that unlike Netscape 7.x, neither the Mozilla Suite nor Mozilla Firebird come with any bundled plug-ins, so if you want all features that many sites offer to work, you will need to download at least Sun Java and the Macromedia Flash and Shockwave plug-ins. In addition, I recommend getting either the Apple Quicktime or Real Player plug-in that will allow you to view/hear embedded media files. If Windows Media support is important to you, you may want to consider Netscape 7.x, which has better Windows Media support than Mozilla.

Hint: I strongly recommend getting and using Mozilla Backup, a program that will allow you to make backups of your profile - which contains all your settings, email,... - and restore them later on. This is recommended to protect yourself against losing important data/email.
